D Shidong Wang has served as the Director of the Oxford Prospects and Global Development Institute at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford. Prior to moving to Oxford in 2011, he was a Research Fellow in the Department of Statistics at the University of California, Berkeley, following the completion of his PhD in Mathematics at the University of Bonn, Germany. He currently holds Visiting Professorships at Fudan University and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in China.
Dr Wang's research spans multiple disciplines, with a focus on economic and technological innovation, quantitative market modeling, evolutionary game theory, and adaptive group evolution theory. His scholarly contributions have been published in leading international journals indexed by SCI and SSCI, including The International Journal of Research in Marketing, Quantum Probability and Infinite Dimensional Analysis, and Markov Processes and Related Fields.
At Oxford, Dr Wang taught courses in Quantitative Financial Models, Applied Probability Theory, and Actuarial Science. The Oxford Prospects and Global Development Institute serves as an interdisciplinary research platform fostering collaboration across diverse academic fields. The Institute currently oversees seven research groups, addressing key global challenges: 1) Mo Yan International Writing Centre; 2)Restorative Justice; 3)AI, Society, and Ethics; 4) Baptist Cultural Heritage; 5) Internationalization of Higher Education; 6) Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
In addition to his research and teaching, Dr Wang spearheaded the establishment of the annual UK-China University Presidents' Roundtable Dialogue, stimulating academic exchange between British Russell Group universities and China’s leading 985-level institutions. His efforts contribute to the advancement of student welfare support networks and the development of theory and practices to teaching and learning in Higher Education.
