Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and gene medical practice have undoubtedly benefited our society. The increase of social media has resulted in more and more of our personal information being made available online. How then, can we assure that contemporary and emerging technologies are beneficial, responsible, and sustainable?
How can we understand the ethical, social and political role of the contemporary technology, including its design and development, and assess its impacts on society?
We will focus on three aspects: The relationship between technology and new world order, The role of technology in human well-being and flourishing, The ethical and social implications of emerging technologies.
The project will lead the study of the ethical implications of artificial intelligence and other new computing technologies and demonstrate the essential role of the humanities in helping society confront and answer fundamental questions of the 21st century.
