About the project
This project will be a research exchange opportunity for students led by academics from Tsinghua University and the University of Oxford, exploring the cultural, ethical, and humanistic dimensions of artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on the future of global society. Bringing together leading academics and selected students, it aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue across philosophy, ethics, governance, and the humanities.
As AI technologies rapidly evolve, societies around the world face urgent questions about the future of human society, and global responsibility. Beyond technical and legal frameworks, there is a pressing need to reimagine the ethical narratives and cultural frameworks that will shape our intelligent futures. This collaboration responds to that need by cultivating cross-cultural, humanistic perspectives on AI and global coordination.
Building on this inaugural project, our vision is to establish an annual collaboration creating a sustained platform for dialogue, innovation, and joint research between Oxford and Tsinghua.
Structure
The project will be split between two locations, a stopover at Tsinghua University between 4th-7th Sept, and destination at the Bali Island between 9th-12th Sept, including:
